A Modern Architectural Feat
Pre-design development, detailed design and tender documents, assistance in tender evaluation and awarding, construction management, and supervision. In association with Heneghan Peng
The Palestinian Museum hub is located at Birzeit University Campus with a site of approximately 4 hectares and a total gross built-up area of 3,500 m2. The landscape area of the site was about 40,000 m2. The project received the 2019 Aga Khan Award (shared equally with five other projects). AJi acted as the local architect/engineer of record and was entrusted with the detailed engineering design and construction supervision services of this prestigious project, which was designed by the Irish architectural firm Heneghan Peng.
The project included a wastewater treatment plant with an irrigation network, tanks, and a control system. The Palestinian Museum was Palestine’s first green building following the LEED rating system, presenting an example of long-term energy sustainability based on international criteria. Energy-saving measures helped the museum save 27% of its annual energy consumption and 37% of its water consumption. These levels are considered high by international standards.
