Picturesque Medical Hospital
Master planning, conceptual design
This medical city was located on a plot of approximately 10,000 m2 on King’s Road, the main street in Jeddah. It faced an existing hospital owned by Murjan Group, where the towers and the sea could be seen in the background.
The plot was located between an existing hospital area and a partially built residential area. The master planning concept consisted of the landscaping that surrounded the hospital towards the residential areas, and also set the building in a pleasant environment that created good exterior views. The central commercial hub was located on the main plaza and served as meeting points with cafés, retail, and even a central conference facility.
Although the buildings were separated they can also be connected, giving the possibility to house several types of functions. Two buildings could work as one, or one building could be divided in half, or even by floors. Each building has its own courtyard and each building shape gives lots of opportunities to look into the surrounding landscape.
