Located in Duhok City, this project had to overcome hilly and mountainous terrain, crossing many wadis and the Duhok and Hishkaro rivers. These two rivers are at the lowest-lying points in the city, so runoff and wastewater from the few existing city sewers are discharged directly into them.
The project proposed to build channels with U-shaped cross-sections using trapezoidal reinforced concrete. The cross-section width varied depending on each area’s population density and its existing facilities. The project included concrete channels, services roads, a main sewage collector, and civil structures such as ramps, stairs, pedestrian bridges, recreation areas, and manholes.
