The project extended from Sharjah Kalba Road at the start of the interchange of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road until Wadi Hilo, a length of about 32 kilometres. The project consisted of an existing dual carriageway that needed refurbishment to achieve:

Existing asphalt segments surfaced as per the assessment

Reconstruction of part of the existing carriageway

Construction of new segments of the road instead of existing sharp curves to meet the minimum design speed of 120 km/h 

Design of the proposed U-turn underpass and connecting the surrounding streets through intersections with the project

Construction of box culverts as per the hydrology study

As per the geotechnical study, cut and fill slope protection and benches, if needed
